Dual SIM Cards Vs. Two Phones?

I don't quite get dual sim cards. I was reading something about it online, and someone said it was useful because he could answer both work calls & personal calls on one phone. I suppose it would be useful in that case.

But some of my busy friends tend to walk around with two phones. I asked one of them why he carried around 2 phones and he said that it was because he receives calls all the time, and didn't want to miss any.

Wouldn't the disadvantage of having a dual sim card phone in this case be, that a colleague might get the busy signal if you're taking a personal call?

I wanted a dual sim card phone because it sounds kind of fun, but I'm still trying to figure out its purpose.

Well, I think that in the case of dual sim-card phone, you will get the message of missed calls in any case and you can contact those numbers which you missed while you were busy talking with other phone call.
However, still I prefer to have two separate phones instead of a single dual sim-card phone. It is because I can easily talk to both the parties at a time and select a call which seems to be more important and at once if I have heard both the parties then only I can decide the same. So I feel the two phone instruments would be more preferable.
