POLICE in Chongqing Municipality revealed details of an abduction case to fight back rumors that many students have been kidnapped and killed for organ harvesting.
Chongqing Police confirmed a 9-year-old girl, Tong Ting, was reported missing on December 27.
Police insisted that Tong was the only reported missing case they received in the recent months.
Though no trace of the missing girl was found, rumors has been circulating in the county that many young girls have been kidnapped and one had her eyes and heart dug out for organ sales.
Police said the rumors were groundless and have been spreading terror among the county residents.
Zeng Yixiu, the grandma of Tong who looked after her when her parents were working as migrant workers, told police that the girl did not came back from school on December 26 and she did not care much at first because she thought the girl was only playing outside.
They called police after the girl didn't show up for the whole night.
The police said Tong was filmed by security camera on December 26 when she was playing in a local amusement park without any sign of injuries.
A classmate said she saw the missing girl playing in the amusement park again six days after she was reported missing.
